The Division of General Internal Medicine extends a warm welcome to Dr. Marika Alois, who joined us as an assistant professor, serving as a physician for both integrative medicine and internal medicine for primary care services.
Dr. Marika Alois received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and worked with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine during her time in Washington, DC. She went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine and fellowship in Integrative Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She was born and raised in Gainesville and is happy to be practicing medicine back in her hometown. Dr. Alois is passionate about taking a holistic approach to help her patients achieve and maintain optimal health. Her clinical interests are broad and include women’s health, adolescent medicine, preventive medicine, and an integrative approach to common symptoms and conditions such as depression, anxiety, menstrual disorders, menopause, headaches, insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders, and fibromyalgia among others. Outside of work, Dr. Alois enjoys practicing yoga, going to group exercise classes, spending time outdoors, eating good food, and relaxing with her husband and two little boys.
